A little local planning

One main stop.
A very good day.

You do not need a packed itinerary to enjoy Tippecanoe County. Choose one outing that fits your group, leave room for a meal and have a weather backup.

Three ways to make it yours

1. A low-cost nature morning.

Start with Celery Bog in West Lafayette. The city lists no admission charge for the nature area. Keep the plan simple: a walk, a little wildlife watching and a snack. Check trail conditions and the Lilly Nature Center’s separate hours before setting out.

If your group would rather look at art, choose the Haan Sculpture Garden in Lafayette instead. Its outdoor garden is free; the separate nature trail has a maintenance closure notice, so leave that trail off the itinerary.

2. A market-and-lunch Saturday.

During the confirmed market season, browse the Historic Lafayette Farmers Market at 5th and Main. Let everyone choose one thing to look for—fruit, flowers or a maker’s stall—then keep some time for a downtown meal.

The official 2026 season ends October 31. After that, do not assume a regular Saturday market is running; use the current event calendar or choose another main stop. Food and purchases are separate from the outing itself.

3. An indoor-play backup.

For a family with young children, the existing directory includes Just Littles Play Café. Its listing describes play for children six and under. Check open-play availability and the current admission directly with the business before promising the children a visit.

Another option is Imagination Station’s hands-on science activities. Review its official hours, exhibit information and admission instead of assuming it is open whenever the weather turns rainy.

Finish with a plan that fits your people.

A picnic may work better than a reservation. A short visit may be better than a full afternoon. Ask about sensory needs, mobility, restrooms and space for a stroller before choosing a destination; this guide does not certify accessibility for every visitor.

Very Good Local’s directory is open to ordinary community listings. A business only has a sticker benefit when its approved offer appears on the relevant team’s offer page.
